Many Internet Explorer problems are caused by add-ons. Unfortunately, removing unwanted add-ons from Internet Explorer can take some work. This is particularly true of the add-ons that you didn’t invite.
Unlike the add-ons that you might choose to simplify your life or improve your media viewing, unwanted add-ons (those rogue programs that attach themselves to Internet Explorer when you load a piece of shareware or unsuspectingly visit the wrong Web site) are designed to keep tabs on you. They report back to their parent programs the kinds of things you like to buy or sites you like to visit.
Internet Explorer traps many — but not all! — attempts by rogue IE add-ons to go behind your back and connect directly to the Internet. For example, if you install Yahoo! Messenger and then open Internet Explorer, you may see the following warning dialog box.
If you click Don’t Allow, Internet Explorer pauses for a moment and then shows you precisely the same dialog box. Click Don’t Allow (or “X” out of the box) and you get it again. And again. You can’t get past the dialog box, and you can’t “X” out of Internet Explorer while the dialog box is open. You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.
There’s only one way to break out of this loop.
- Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and click Start Task Manager. In Windows Task Manager, click the Applications tab.You see a list of running applications.
- Select the line for Windows Internet Explorer and click End Task.Vista responds with a scary dialog box that says it cannot end the program because it is waiting for a response from you. Well, DUH!
- Click End Now to chop the beast off at the knees and then “X” out of the Task Manager.Once again, you see the Allow or Don’t Allow dialog box.
- Click Don’t Allow. This time, the dialog box disappears.
- Choose Start→All Programs→Accessories→
System Tools→Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).Internet Explorer starts without running any add-ons, and you see this warning. - In the Add-Ons Disabled dialog box, choose
Tools→Manage Add-ons→Enable or Disable Add-Ons. - In the box marked Show, choose Add-Ons That Have Been Used by Internet Explorer. Then click the Publisher column head to sort by publisher. When you’ve jumped through all those hoops, you see a sorted list of add-ons in the Manage Add-Ons dialog box.
- One by one, click any suspect add-ons and then click Disable. If you change your mind, you can go back and Enable any unjustly accused add-ons.Even if you can delete an add-on (in particular, you can delete any listed with a Type of ActiveX Control), it’s better to Disable. If you run into something spectacularly unique, the people responsible for tracking down such things might want to be able to see what was there.I really like your mod, it is almost the best mod to be for that game. - Click OK three times, “X” out of Internet Explorer, and then start IE normally. The scummy add-on will never darken IE’s door again.
In this guide, we’re going to show you how to remove Addons from Kodi Krypton. When we say ‘removing’ add-ons, we basically mean uninstalling. There are a few reasons that you may wish to remove & uninstall add-ons from Kodi.
The main reason is usually that having too many add-ons will bloat your setup and make it run slower than usual. This is due to the fact that add-ons are usually doing their own thing in the background, such as updating.

- Mask your IP Address & Hide your streaming habits.
- Prevent your ISP from spying on you.

- From the list, choose ‘Uninstall’. This will completely remove the add-on and it’s settings from Kodi!
The Anniversary Update brings support for extensions and you can download available add-ons directly from the Windows Store and install on your Surface Pro 4 tablet or other Windows 10 computer, without need to extracte and load extensions from a local folder. That improve your media viewing but rogue programs always attach unwanted add-ons to your browser. So you might get some unknown problem and that are caused by extension. The best way for taking some work is to remove those add-ons from Microsoft Edge.

Internet Explorer is more than just a browser - it works as an underlying technology behind a number of internal Windows processes including updating, basic Windows functionality, and more.

Since Windows Update requires the use of Internet Explorer, manual updates will no longer be possible. Automatic updates, if enabled, should continue unaffected.
Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista use the Set program access and computer defaults tool to disable Internet Explorer. Instructions for Windows XP are below these.
Please remember - even though you are disabling Internet Explorer, you are not actually removing it. Your Windows PC still uses Internet Explorer for a number of internal processes.
- The quickest way to do this in Windows 10 is by searching for it in the Start menu.In Windows 8, use the Power User Menu'sWIN-X keyboard shortcut. For Windows 7 and Vista, click the Start Menu and then choose Control Panel.
- If you see several categories of Control Panel applets, choose Programs. Otherwise, if you see a bunch of icons (i.e. you're in Classic View), choose Default Programs and then skip down to Step 4.
- Choose Default Programs from the list of options.
- Select the link called Set program access and computer defaults. You might need to confirm access with User Account Control; just choose Continue if asked.
- Click Custom from that list.
- Under the Choose a default web browser: section, remove the check in the box next to Internet Explorer that says Enable access to this program.
- Click the OK button to save the changes and to close out of the Set Program Access and Computer Defaults window.
- You can now exit out of Control Panel.
Windows XP
One way of disabling Internet Explorer in Windows XP is by using the Set Program Access and Defaults utility, available as part of all Windows XP installations with at least the SP2 service pack installed.
- Navigate to the Control Panel by clicking on Start, followed by Control Panel (or Settings and then Control Panel, depending on how you're setup).
- In the Control Panel window, open Add or Remove Programs. In Microsoft Windows XP, depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the Add or Remove Programs icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.
- In the Add or Remove Programs window, click on the Set Program Access and Defaults button on the menu on the left.
- Choose the Custom option in the Choose a configuration: area.
- In the Choose a default Web browser: area, uncheck the Enable access to this program check box next to Internet Explorer.
- Click OK. Windows XP will apply your changes and the Add or Remove Programs window will close automatically.
Disable Internet Explorer Using A Dummy Proxy Server
Another option is to configure Internet Explorer to access the internet through a non-existent proxy server, essentially disabling the browser from accessing anything on the internet.
- Enter the inetcpl.cpl command in the Run dialog box to open Internet Properties. You can open Run through the WIN-R keyboard combination (i.e. hold down the Windows key and then press 'R').
- Choose the Connections tab from the Internet Properties window.
- Choose the LAN settings button to open the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window.
- In the Proxy server section, check the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).
- In the Address: text box, enter 0.0.0.0.
- In the Port: text box, enter 80.
- Click OK and then click OK again in the Internet Properties window.
- Close all Internet Explorer windows.
- If you wish to undo these changes in the future, simply follow the steps listed above again, only this time uncheck the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) in Step 4.
This is a more manual, and less desirable, way to disable access to Internet Explorer. If you're comfortable making slightly more advanced changes to your internet settings, this option might be for you.
